As part of the whole “social web” fanfare, I figured I would share my thoughts on the different hotels I stay in. Why? Mainly because you can’t really get anything honest from the hotel’s own website, and TripAdvisor is flooded with comments from folks on ultra-cheap budgets, whiners, don’t know betters, etc. At least here you can get a gauge for some context in the review.

Personally, I am not crazy about the standard hotels. By standard, I mean the traditional Marriott & Hilton hotels and their various sub-brands. I find that all of them are pretty much the same, with the same tacky trying-to-hard furniture, bland carpeting, boring lighting, etc. Now, maybe if you’re the traveling salesman type and/or typically not adventurous, then you’ll feel right at home in these places. In fact, I’m willing to bet that many would actually want the same “hotel look” in their own homes.

That’s not me. That being said, I will still include those in my list as much as possible.  Also important to remember is that like with any product review, each user’s experience is unique.  Just because there was roadwork or hotel repairs the week you were there, does not mean necessarily that the hotel sucks; however, how the hotel coped with such disturbances is notable.

Feedback is always good, feel free to comment on the pages. I don’t usually go on business travel with a camera, so pictures of the hotels will not be too frequent. Also, always open to suggestions.

Happy travels
